ETNA - Demonstrator Event

The ETNA project showcase event (WP6 deliverable) was hosted at BT Adastral Park on Wednesday 25th November 2009, and presented key activities and achievements made during the course of the two year project. It was attended by more than 40 invited guests, with a mix of business and academic visitors from BT (including Openreach, Wholesale and Global Services divisions), Nokia Siemens Networks and universities as well as the European Commission.

Presentations ranged from the commercial application of business logic to the key research technology capabilities that have been developed in the project. A major highlight of the project was a showcase proof of concept demonstration which showed, for the first time, automated provision of end-to-end Ethernet services across multiple service provider networks via the exchange of agreed service templates. The underlying technology components were also exposed in a session of research presentations followed by accompanying demonstrations.

ETNA project has developed a common framework for the exchange of service templates which both define contractual service obligations as well as implementing policy on the underlying network elements. These and other innovations developed during the ETNA project complement the activities of the MEF and IEEE which emphasise how Ethernet inter-provider services and peering are now maturing.
